This is the old Kallang Airport, Singapore’s first civil airport. Opened in 1937 and closed in 1940, the control building was used as People’s Association HQ fron 1950s. Now the PA HQ is moving to the old Victoria School site at Jalan Besar, what will happen to this old Kallang Airport building?

Dear Sir,
I am currently doing a school project on the History of Singapore Airport. May I use this picture (the old kallang airport) for my project please? Please grant us the permission to use it. Hopefully you still have other beautiful pictures of old Singapore Airports.
Hi Jean,
Pls go ahead.
Dear Sir,
I am also, like Jane, currently doing a school project on the History of Singapore Airport. May I use this picture (the old kallang airport) for my project please? Please grant me the permission to use it.
Hi Anthea,
Pls go ahead and use it.
Sir, My father was in the RAF in 45-51 stationed at Kallang, he and my mother lived in Mountbatten Rd. I was born in KK in 47. During your historical searches, did you ever come across Wing Commander W.D.Beckingham?
Hi
I served with the RAF in 1945 at Kallang airport where I installed a “Eureka” radar beacon on the roof of the control tower of the terminsal building to guide aircraft into the airport from 60 miles out.
I am hoping to make a commemorative visit to Singapore towards the end of 2009 and would dearly love to have access to the site of my beacon, if only this were possible. However I gather that the building was closed this year on 9th April so this may not be possible.
